Detroit Auto Show Sees Cadillac Moving Up

This move to the luxury area has long been desired by Cadillac. They wanted to be situated near their luxury rivals so that visitors to the Detroit auto show could see their vehicles against their competition and weigh values in a more realistic and easy to understand method.

However, the move has value beyond logistics. It's a move that Cadillac understand is full of symbolism. Moving Cadillac brand vehicles to the same area as the higher end vehicles is a way of making Cadillac's desire to compete directly with the German automakers clear.

It is an especial bold move considering that Cadillac has been struggling in recent years. Last year's auto show showcased only three vehicles and one sedan in the Cadillac line-up.

Cadillac has been experiencing a bit of a bounce back this year as they can now unveil vehicles such as the ATS sedan and the ELR plug-in hybrid. The ATS sedan is an especially important vehicle for Cadillac as it is a finalist for the North American Car of the Year Award.
