One such client realized through her research, that she had mistakenly entered a plea into a drug trafficking offense that would cause her to be deported.

Attorney Mathur reviewed her case and determined that she was correct. Attorney Mathur filed a Post-Conviction Writ of Habeas Corpus in criminal court that would show she wasn’t advised of her immigration consequences as in Padilla v. Kentucky. At her hearing December of 2012, attorney Mathur was able to get the District Attorney to agree to the Writ and dismiss the criminal case!

Attorney Mathur’s client had been in the U.S. illegally for thirteen years; he came to attorney Mathur wanting to become legal. Attorney Mathur advised him to file a petition through his wife and to ask for a waiver to be admitted legally. In November of 2012, Attorney Mather and his team were able to get the client approved to be a legal resident!

Mr. L was arrested for DWI and was placed in deportation/removal proceedings. Attorney Mathur discovered that Mr. L. had been in the U.S. illegally for a number of years and he also had relatives who were here illegally. Mathur managed to postpone the criminal case for several months because Mr. L. stood a better chance before an immigration judge to win residency under a Non-LPR Cancellation. The case was fought before an immigration judge in October of 2012, and the immigration judge awarded residency in the United States to Mr. L! These results were by attorney Mathur and attorney Malik.

On September 13, 2012, a father won a child custody hearing! Mr. B. contacted the Mathur Law Offices when his daughter’s mother claimed that he deceitfully took their daughter from the mother’s Texas home and took her to Missouri and failed to return their daughter as agreed. The mother was seeking full custody and Mr. B. wanted 50/50 custody. Attorney Mathur fought hard for 50/50 custody and won 50/50 custody with no order for child support!

In April of 2012 a deportation case was dismissed. Mr. O was arrested for possession of false documents; he was charged and detained in Dallas County. Attorney Mathur worked with the prosecution and the Department of State to assist in the investigation. As a result of Mr. O’s cooperation and attorney Mathur’s efforts, the criminal and deportation cases were dismissed despite Mr. O’s illegal presence in the United States!

Mr. M. had been arrested for marijuana possession. Despite the admissibility of the evidence and the chances of a conviction, attorney Mathur negotiated a dismissal of charges against his client. In September of 2011, the drug case was dismissed without probation!

Sanjay S. Mathur is the lead attorney at the Mathur Law Offices, P.C. He is Board Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
