Top Indian B schools have launched a number of new and innovative programs and courses in 2012. Here is a snapshot of some of those programs

XLRI introduces online agribusiness program, mid-level executive course

XLRI School of Business & Human Resource has launched a six-month online Agribusiness Management Program. The institute has developed the self- learning ‘Certificate Programme in Agri-Business Management’ in collaboration with Ikisan, a comprehensive agri portal promoted by Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals. The programme, divided into 10 modules covering managerial, technical and other professional skills, begins with a one-week induction program at the XLRI Jamshedpur Campus, followed by study of course modules and working on independent projects.

XLRI Jamshedpur and Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA, announced the launch of a Masters Programme in Positive Organizational Development and Change (MPOD) to be offered in India. The programme, which is designed for mid-level working executives from across the globe, has start from November. It is being conducted in six modules spread over 15 months by faculty from both XLRI and Case Western University.

SPJIMR launches certification program with IBM

Aimed at bridging the skill gap for working professionals in the growing and potentially vibrant services industry, SPJIMR has launched its Advanced Certificate Program in Services in a joint venture with IBM. According to the institute, the program aims to shape professionals in different service sectors including banking, retail, telecommunication, health care, hospitality, IT services, etc.

IMT Ghaziabad, French B school launch DBA

IMT Ghaziabad, in association with Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), France, has started a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. Besides generating suitable faculty for B schools, this DBA aims to open up new opportunities.

ISB unveils program for business scions

ISB on December 10 announced the launch of its new Management Program for Family Business (MFAB), specially designed to groom the young generation for leadership in family-owned businesses. Slated to start in August 2013, MFAB will start inviting admission applications from January 1, 2013. The process will go on till March 15.

IIM Raipur starts PG course for working executives

IIM Raipur has announced the launch of the Post Graduate Program for Working Executives (PGPWE). The program has been launched keeping in mind the constant demand to upgrade the managerial skill and knowledge of professionals working in public and private sectors.  Designed precisely for mid-/senior-level executives, the duration of the program is 18 months with classes taking place on Saturdays and Sundays. The cumulative timing of classes is 12 hours per week. The selection process is designed to ensure significant diversity in academic, business and cultural backgrounds. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in managerial or entrepreneurial or professional fields after graduation. The age limit is 50 years as on October 2012.

IIM Shillong & NSE unveil PG program in financial markets

IIM Shillong, has tied up with the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to offer a two-year full time Post Graduate Programme in Financial Markets (PGP-FM) – the first such initiative by any IIM in the country. The programme will be a combination of general management subjects as well as highly specialized subjects in financial markets, such as financial valuation and modeling, equity research, technical analysis, derivatives trading strategies and financial engineering. The program will also include a visit to international markets to enable students to get a global perspective. Students will be able to simulate market conditions and develop trading, investment and portfolio management skills through simulated market software, designed by the NSE.

IIM Udaipur launches dual-degree exec MBA with 4 global schools

IIM Udaipur is going to kick start an executive MBA program which will not only confer a dual degree/diploma but also involve a joint learning process across four different schools across the globe. The program is slated to begin from January 2013.

Indian B schools start programs in Pakistan

Two top Indian B schools –SPJIMR and ISB have launched programs in Pakistan in association with Institute of Business Administration Karachi.

SPJIMR has launched a 10-month course, ‘Owners Management Program’ in Pakistan in association with IBA, Karachi. The course focuses on developing family business managers in Pakistan with SPJIMR’s expertise in the subject.  ISB and IBA, Karachi, have announced the commencement of their first joint executive education program, Leadership Skills for Top Management, in Pakistan.
