Why is my boiler making strange banging noises?

Central heating systems can create an array of strange noises, including banging, gurgling and churning. There can be a variety of reasons for these noises, the most common of which being trapped air in the system, meaning you'll need to bleed your radiators. Other cases can be water pressure being too low, or your boiler is kettling (the build up of limescale in the boiler’s heat exchange).

How/When do I bleed a radiator?

If your radiator feels cold at the top and warm at the bottom, then it is quite likely it will require bleeding. This is quite an easy taks: open a small valve on your radiator and allow any trapped air to escape.
