By: A & R Select “When Push Comes to Shove” , which was produced by two time Grammy nominated one time recipient Tim Sonnefeld and features two songs with co-founder of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band Kirk Joseph on Sousaphone, has a plethora of songs that have distinct yet classic defining sounds. Their sound is a mixture of Ska, Reggae and a bit of funk. Their unique rhythms are enhanced by the use of a brass section earning The Bullbuckers a place where none have reached to date. Singles such as “Time”, Sangria”, “Give Me A Little Sign”, “Remedy” and “Miss Constance” are representative of the overall unique fusion of these sounds. Each of these songs have a distinct sound, rhythm and delivery only to please the ever growing fan base that they so much deserve. “Time” storyline was inspired by multiple tragic deaths in Kevin Tarzanin’s life. His cousin’s passing due to a car accident at the age of 16, his brothers suicide at the age of 21 and numerous overdoes of good friends around him. It is the overall emotional healing of one’s soul from the perspective of others or one’s own mistakes. This song has an incredibly smooth rhythm fused with Jamaican/Caribbean and Reggae influences. “Sangria” was written while sensing the end of Kevin’s 5-year relationship with his then live in girlfriend. It is about shamefully giving up on beer upon the discovery and excessive drinking of sangria, which was also fueled by the end of his 5-year relationship. This is a fast-paced reggae filled rhythm. It is full of humor with catchy hooks that make you feel real good. You just bounce around when you hear this song. It is a fun and carefree take on accepting the situation the way it is. That brass section really kicks it in this song. It actually carries that Latin beat that kicks it up a notch. “Give Me A Little” is about a woman to let her man know one way or the other if he has her affection. It is another of that traditional Jamaican Folk “mento” music with that Latin twist that has an incredible melody. It has a two-tone Ska rhythm to it. This song has a mid tempo change that makes it stand out. “Remedy” - “is a plea for transparency in our nation’s actions and a call to action for the public to pay attention and try to make a change for the better. The song does so lyrically with a “clinical” “Miss Constance” is a term for a woman who imposes her will on people, much like the meaning of the word bull bucker in the Jamaican Palois dialect. “This song is a remake of Count Lashers little known Mento song with a bawdy sexual overtone laced over a theme of a race between a man and a woman” states Kevin. This song has a bit of calypso in it mixed with a glorious Caribbean salsa sound. This song has such an outstanding arrangement; The Bullbuckers are musicians extraordinaire, entertainment personified. They are an act that is challenged by no other. For your pure enjoyment, they are a ‘must experience’, ‘must buy’ group of 2012. They hit the apex with their debut CD because they captured a sound not yet heard on the airwaves. Accomplishments and accolades to date are but are not limited to: They have received a trifecta of awards from WSTW 93.7 including Best Band, Best Live Act in the Delaware Valley. They are finalists in Philadelphia’ Won the Spark Magazine Summer Series award in 2009 “The Bullbuckers Ska sound has propelled them to the top of the Delaware music scene” - Matt Ami, Out & About Magazine, Wilmington 2012 “The show (Trombone Shorly concert at the Bollie & Cork, Dewey Beach, De) came with local flare thanks to the Bullbuckers, one of Delaware’s most revered original bands (who) opened the show with an energetic set that had the whole crows swaying to their set with a crescendo, performing their upbeat album track, “Don’t You Know”. - Lauren Frisby, Spark Magazine/Wilmington News Journal “A fusion of soul-searing and foot-stomping music – ska like you’ve never hard it (unless you were living in the island in the 60’s), soul and a tinge of hip-hop. It’s a Wilmington sound that has roots – and fans – round the globe” - The Examiner “We are thankful to have sold 1000 physical copies of the debut album in our first year.
