Abri van straten discusses philosophical, metaphysical aspects of human life through his music

Nov. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Abri van straten was born and raised in Cape Town South Africa who is now living in Los Angeles, Ca.  He remembers back when he was 10 years old always listening to music.  One day after hearing The Byrds version of Dylan’s classic “Tambourine Man”, Abri was mesmerized by the poetic vision that the song exuded.  It took him on a visual trip that literally changed his life.

For the next 30 years, Abri explored aspects of existential quandaries such as the philosophical, metaphysical, empirical and naturalistic connection to human existence and consciousness.  He is also a classically trained guitar player and it is in this form that he reveals his true identity.

Abri van straten CD “Sunlight and Shadows” refers to the mental moments of happiness and sadness that seem to weave their ways through all of our lives.  Songs that represent his unique style of music include:

“Living in L.A.” where in 2008, he met and married the woman of his dreams.  This song deals with re-birth, starting in a new life in a new town.  His love story so beautifully delivered through his incredible guitar playing and his sensual vocals.  

“16th Floor” is referencing the extraordinary view across the rooftops of Hollywood Blvd.  This song is self-explanatory and is arranged with pure adornment and joy.  

Another single “Monet” follows a journey of a girl as she travels through life viewing it all through a looking glass as she battles the internal life with the external reality.  

These songs tell stories so eloquently, with incredible arrangements and an incredible therapeutic sound to them.  He is an artist who through his music shows the desire to understand his own inner path and the beauty that align those visions.  Through music, he allows us all a glimpse at what he sees somewhat similar to motion picture snippets, which reveal fragmented views through sound.  What a glorious way to communicate!
