Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- The Omron E5_N-H temperature controller not only provides a cost saving solution but also makes systems easier to design, build and maintain.

Based on the design of Omron’s E5_N products, the new Omron E5_N-H controllers add process control features, including enhanced accuracy, speed and communication options.

The Omron E5_N-H controllers are available in three distinct sizes: the 1/16 DIN E5CN-H, the 1/8 DIN E5EN-H and the 1/4 DIN E5AN-H. While most features are common to all models, the larger sizes of the E5EN-H and E5AN-H allows them to accommodate a three line display to provide additional I/O terminals.

Setting up and programming for advanced features of the new controller is easily carried out using Omron’s CX-Thermo software, a windows based package which runs on a PC. This software solution provides full access to all of the controllers functions and even provides libraries of functions to be built. These functions can be transferred between controllers as an aid to rapid configuration.

The Omron E5_N-H controllers incorporate eight “work bits”. These bits can be programmed to perform simple logic operations, with or without time delays for example, the status of alarms, the SP ramp or the controllers’ digital inputs. Work bits can be used to control the operation of the Omron E5_N-H unit itself and of its outputs.

As well as work bits, E5_N-H temperature controllers have eight internal data banks which can be used to store operational parameters such as PID and alarm settings, set values and soak times. These banks can be used to hold memory relating for example to different products which can then be selected by the user. Alternatively, data banks can be linked to provide the functionality of an SV programmer.

Enhancements include fast input sampling time of 60ms, an input accuracy of 0.1% PV and an output resolution greater than 10,000. These features ensure precise control in even the most demanding of applications.

The Omron E5_N-H Controllers are exceptionally versatile, with just one version needed to cover Pt, thermocouple, current and voltage inputs. The output modules are interchangeable, allowing users to select electromechanical relay, solid state relay, pulse, voltage or current types according to each application requirement.

All models in the Omron E5_N-H range incorporate five digit eleven segment colour change display. The Omron E5CN-H has a two line display, while the E5EN-H and the E5AN-H have three line displays. The Omron E5_N-H series offer up to four digital event inputs and a wide range of digital communication options, including Modbus. The Omron E5EN-H and E5AN-H supports programming via a front mounted infrared port, as well as remote set point and transfer facilities.

Faster input sampling and control period
The Omron E5_N-H gives faster, more precise heater control in rapidly changing, disturbance sensitive applications.

PV Colour Change
The Omron E5_N-H provides crystal clear process status, even from a distance without the need for interpreting the values. When one of the heaters is not at a set point, the PV can change colour to alert any member of staff (detecting a bad sealing at an early stage).

Loop Break Alarm & Sensor Break Alarm
In plastic production, the tool used to make the product is changed fairly often. Frequent reconnecting of the sensor or heater can result in a wire break. The Omron E5_N-H alarms quickly to detect such problems in the process.

Basic (2-Step) Programmer
In many thermal processes (food, brick, pottery) a small element of timing is needed. The feature enables users to ramp up to a set point and set the dwell time period. At the end of this time, the process stops or continues with an indication alarm to alert the operator. A fixed minimum or maximum curing/backing tie is assured in a smooth, controlled way.
