Nov. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, many schools and businesses push to create strong leaders out of their students and employees. Someone who demonstrates strong leadership skills is often seen as having self-confidence in their actions without second guessing themselves. Turning Winds Academic Institute knows that many of the struggling teens they see are fully capable of developing into strong positive leaders.

Turning Winds Academic Institute is a therapeutic academic boarding school that accommodates struggling teens both male and female from a variety of backgrounds. No matter what lay in the students’ past, if they are accepted into Turning Winds Academic Institute, they are provided an environment where they are able to achieve academically and grow as a person. And much of the students’ self-growth may be by maturing their personalities.

Turning Winds Academic Institute encourages the growth and leadership of students in a number of their programs. One of the most productive programs for the students is the Venturing Crew supported by Turning Winds Academic Institute. The “Venturing Crew allows young men and women to focus on leadership development and engage in high adventure activities,” says academy representative John Baisden.

If you were to check out the academy’s blog at turningwindsacademicinstitute.blogspot.com, you’d find that there are a number of outdoor activities students seem to participate in seasonally. For these students, part of self-growth and discovery comes from the leadership skills they develop on these outdoor adventures. Not only do they push themselves physically but mentally as well. And they are rewarded with the positivity of working together.

Besides Turning Winds Academic Institute’s support for outdoor recreational activities, they also promote community service work. For many of these teens, little thought has been placed upon the benefits everyone receives from helping out their communities. “Turning Winds Academic Institute engages in many service projects to its’ surrounding communities as we feel that one of the greatest contributions we can make is that of giving of ourselves as we strive to instill that in each one of our students,” explains John Baisden.
