GD PI preparation tips@ Already taken CAT 2012? Update your 'To Do' list now

Oct. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- CAT 2012 is halfway through. With just seven days remaining for the exam to be concluded, CAT 2012 have been taken by 1,14,489 candidates (about 50 per cent) over 13 days. Prepare for GD, PI & essay writing: Now that you have crossed the first step, it is time for you to get ready for the second step of group discussion (GD), personal interview (PI) and essay writing. These are the steps which you have to cross in order to get the final admission call at the B-schools you have applied for. Arks Srinivas, CEO, VistaMind Education, said, “Those who took CAT now should start preparing for the second phase of testing that is GD and PI. If you wait for the CAT results that are expected in the second week of January, it would be too late to start for the GD, PI and essay writing.”

For preparation, you need to have the current affairs at your finger tips. Reading the daily newspapers, watching the news bulletin on TV and practising essay writing within a stipulated duration should be integral parts of your routine. “The IIM aspirants should now start spending at least two hours on current news and happening. This would help a lot in group discussion. The broad and specific knowledge on different relevant issue would help them substantiate their arguments and connect different issues during GD," said Srinivas.

Prepare for upcoming MBA entrance exams: Apart from CAT, there are other MBA entrance exams of high repute which can lead you to coveted B-schools. These exams are: XAT 2013, IIFT 2012, and SNAP 2012 to name a few. First, note the difference of the pattern compared to CAT and focus on your weaker areas. “Those who have other MBA entrance exams like IIFT, XAT, etc should first start with their weak areas and quickly start revising the overall prep material. Taking CAT in the first half of the window will give an edge to a candidate in preparing for these exams," mentioned Srinivas.

Apply to B-schools according to your expected score: The admission process of the top and mid-rung B-schools are going on in full swing. If you have not yet applied, do not waste time. Make a list of the B-schools you want to apply and check the details of the application process before they meet the deadlines.

Meanwhile, October 29 was the 14th day of CAT 2012. The day passed off without any untoward incident.
