Students of Jaipuria Lucknow Donate blood to save lives

Oct. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- For many days, these words had been adorning numerous banners and posters around the sprawling campus ofJaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. Going by the number of those who had registered with TeamUdaan – the Social Service Club of Jaipuria Lucknow – for the blood donation camp on the 14th of September 2012, it was clear that the message had got through to the students of Jaipuria Lucknow.

It was therefore not surprising that the young managers of Jaipuria Lucknow turned up in large numbers to make a difference to the lives of those who were in need of blood. The fact that Jaipuria Lucknow had organised this drive for Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lucknow, was an indication that the really underprivileged people, who could not afford to buy blood for their ailing relations, would benefit from this blood-donation camp.

“In all, students of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, have donated 91 units of blood”, informed the representative of RML Lucknow. “By any stretch of imagination, this is a great contribution by these youngsters. We are encouraged to carry out more such camps in this place.”

In fact, the number of those who had registered for blood donation was far greater than those who finally were able to. There were many who were not allowed to donate blood as they had given blood less than three months earlier. (According to rules and regulations, a person is not allowed to donate blood twice within a space of three months). The entire blood donation camp was carried out under the watchful eyes of the doctors from RML Lucknow, with strict adherence to safety and medical rules. Refreshments were also provided to the donors.

“Service to social causes is deeply embedded in Jaipuria Institute of Management,”observed Professor S. R. Musanna, Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, who had inaugurated the event. “Our Team Udaanworks for underprivileged people; be it education for underprivileged children, distribution of clothes, organising health check-up camps, spreading financial literacy, opening up no-frill bank accounts, etc.”

The student coordinators for the event, Pulkit Agarwal, Abantika Ghoshal and Rajat Sahani, came up for special mention for their devotion and enthusiasm for the cause.Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, has been conducting a Blood Donation camp every year with the aim of increasing the availability of blood for transfusion to the underprivileged.
