Construction Set to Begin at Mann Research Center in Tradition Center for Innovation
Direct Connection to Tradition Medical Center Offers Researchers, Physicians On-site Access to Hospital Facilities
Lease agreements have already been signed for 31,000 square feet of medical office and lab space within the building, which enjoys not only a strategic location within TCI, but also a direct connection to the new Tradition Medical Center, a Martin Health System Hospital.
Adjacent to Tradition’s prominent biotechnology research centers, the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies and Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute of Florida, Mann Medical One will house the Florida Vision Institute as well as offices for Martin Health System’s administrative team and labs for its clinical research when the building opens in late 2013.
The two-story facility will share its entrance and lobby with Tradition Medical Center, enabling Martin Health System staff and affiliated physicians greater flexibility and opportunities for both patient care and clinical research with the nearby research institutes.
Lease agreements have been signed with:
· Martin Health Systems, which will occupy 25,000 square feet of space to include offices for administrators and internal doctors, as well as lab space for research and clinical trials.
· Florida Vision Institute, which will occupy 6,000 square feet of office and surgical space for ophthalmological services.
“Perhaps the most exciting opportunity we see with this facility is the 4,000 square feet of lab space that will be available for clinical trials,” said John DelRusso, president of Mann Research Center. “This will foster partnerships between the research and health care organizations within TCI, providing an atmosphere in which we truly provide care from bench to bedside.”
“Having our research team in such close proximity to Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies and VGTI Florida will allow us to improve the efficiency of studies with our research partners,” said Mark E. Robitaille, president and CEO of Martin Health System. “At the same time, having an experienced, hospital-based research team on the campus of TCI provides a powerful incentive to other life science organizations looking to relocate to the area.”
“Mann Medical One will also house Martin Health System’s outpatient infusion services and clinical research functions, which will offer the latest treatment protocols as well as phase I clinical trials,” said Deb Lewandowski, corporate director of oncology services for Martin Health System.
Affiliated physicians and specialty practitioners have also seen the benefit in Mann Research Center’s strategic life science site plan. “Mann has created a truly unique atmosphere that redefines excellence in health care,” said David Lienhardt, administrator, Florida Vision Institute. “Florida Vision Institute is excited to be developing a state-of-the-
Slated for groundbreaking in December, Mann Medical One will be the first facility in the 22-acre Mann Research Center complex, which is designed to include multi-level buildings available for medical offices, research and development facilities with wet/dry labs and retail space.
“The addition of this facility into the Tradition Center for Innovation is clearly generating excitement in the regional life sciences and health care market, which is evident in the leasing activity,” said Nathaniel Bray, president, Bray Realty Advisors and exclusive broker of Mann Research Center, LLC.
