By: A & R Select Ryan expanded his musical library by tapping into the prolific songwriting of other artsits such as Ryan Adams and Conor Oberst, all while soaking up the sounds of The Velvet Underground and David Bowie, which were some of his biggest influences. He attended and graduated from one of the premiere music schools in the world, Full Sail University in Orlando. With his sights set on Hollywood, California, he moved cross-country in 2006 pursuing a professional music career. He took a job at Westlake Recording Studios where he trained extensively in music production, all while sharpening his skills on the guitar. This was the time when he began recording demos of his songs and developing his voice. Knowing that he had become a jack-of-all- Ryan’s music began to receive great reviews from contest judges when he competed. The evolution of his music and working with producers such as Jeff Kirchner at Tip Top Studios began to pay off. In the fall of 2011, he released his debut EP “Porcelain Heart” to rave reviews. The title track sets the tone for the entire CD “Porcelain Heart” is about adversities that everyone goes through. “Not knowing what’s going to happen at the end of any situation or relationship we put our heart on the line and hope for the best”, states Ryan. “Porcelain Heart” is a mid-tempo rock song with plenty of radio appeal. The electric guitar and drums work in unison which carries the rhythm straight through to the end. It has great guitar riffs that give the song an edgy sound. The lyrical content is clever which maximizes the overall effect that the song has on the audience. Combining all these essential elements and you have a recipe for success. This strategy has worked well for him and it gives Ryan Thomas an advantage over others in his genre’. “Porcelain Heart” is representative of the overall feel of the EP with smooth melodies wrapped in heartfelt lyrics. His music is an experience worth having. Over the past few months, Ryan has worked with musicians to help give his songs a more full-bodied sound. Musicians such as Jarrett Furst (cello), Alex Eckhoff (drums), and Michael Fanetti (bass) enabled him to succeed at his goal. Since the release of this EP he has increased the use of the cello along with experimenting with other instruments adding vibrant distinct sounds that allows audience members to fully engulf themselves in his music. Ryan Thomas is currently performing in and around the Los Angeles area. In October 2012, Jarrett and Ryan will be performing in Ohio.
