OMeS the First WEB 3.0 open source server - vision of the new internet

Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- OMeS is an ODTP server that serves OMML to the internet just like Apache is an HTTP server that serves HTML to the internet. You probably have never heard of OMeS, ODTP, or OMML before, but if the Developers of OMeS have their way that is going to change. OMeS Lead Developer Mike Stecher states "OMeS could be installed millions of times by this time next year. It is open source, free to download, community supported and  it is the only WEB 3.0 server available".

OMeS developers lay claim to being the first Overnet Millennium server, claiming that WEB 3.0 is  a new protocol on the internet that delivers data at the same time as a web server over a different port and rather then returning text and image web data like a web server it returns layout instructions for (AWT) Active Web Tiles as well as information and instructions to interact with data and users on a web page or web site. Mike says "An (OMA) Overnet Millennium application is like an online multiplayer game, users can interact with the Active Web Tiles in their browser that interact with other users of the same Overnet Millennium application in their browser on a different computer. An Overnet Millennium application works while you are working, so if you visit the website of your favorite restaurant an Overnet Millennium application could be searching online for recipes that match that restaurant's menu and displaying them in an Active Web Tile, right there, while you read the menu. Or perhaps a different OMA could be looking up reviews of electronics you are shopping for on your favorite electronics store website and displaying those reviews in an Active Web Tile. The possibilities are endless. It's up to developers, entrepreneurs, business owners, and inventors to come up with all the ways to use this technology. We are just building the framework for the applications."

The obvious question is who will use this software, and the answer appears to be web hosting companies will supply it as an option for hosting Overnet Millennium application and developers will use it for deploying their applications.

What is the future of OMeS? "OMeS is just getting started. It is open source so we still need donations to continue and finish it's development. But because it is open source it is impossible to claim that my vision is the only one. I see OMeS delivering 3D information about a website in the very near future that will give a user an option to switch to a 3D version of that site. I also anticipate thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of applications being built, some of which will replace the way we do things now. There is real opportunity here for someone to come up with the next Google or the next Facebook. Or maybe those companies will quickly produce Overnet Millennium applications themselves to maintain their dominance but I'm rooting for the underdog. I think there are thousands of individuals out there that will be innovative, creative and motivated enough to make OMeS their own, and change the face of the internet." says Mike
