Renowned Organist J. Reilly Lewis to Perform with NOW-New Orchestra of Washington October 28

Internationally acclaimed organist and founder of the Washington Bach Consort, Dr. J. Reilly Lewis will be featured as organ soloist with NOW-New Orchestra of Washington on October 28 during its second concert of the orchestra's first season.

Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- After performing a successful, first concert of its inaugural season, NOW-The New Orchestra of Washington will be joined by renowned organist J. Reilly Lewis on October 28-4PM at Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ in Bethesda, MD.  

"Psycophony"  will be an evening of "spooktacular" music prominently featuring Dr. Lewis at the organ.  Crowd pleasing favorites for the organ include Bach's famous "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" and  Poulenc's "Concerto for Organ and Orchestra.  Rounding out the program will be Bartók’s "Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta."  This concert is just in time for Halloween and just the thing to put you on the edge of your seat.

ABOUT GUEST ARTIST:  J. REILLY LEWIS

A native of Washington, D. C., Dr.  Lewis is recognized internationally as an accomplished conductor and keyboard artist, as well as a leading specialist of Baroque music, particularly the music of J.S. Bach.  Lewis performs regularly both as a conductor and keyboard artist in his home city, as well as for national and international audiences. His appearances as organ soloist include those with the National Symphony Orchestra, various organ recitals nationally and internationally, and the performance of the complete Bach Goldberg Variations in recital on numerous occasions in the United States and abroad.  Dr. Lewis founded the Washington Bach Consort in 1977 and currently leads the ensemble in its 35th anniversary season.

ABOUT NOW:

The New Orchestra of Washington was founded in the summer of 2011 by some of the most accomplished and exciting professional musicians in our Nation's Capital. The ensemble's seeks  to redefine orchestral and chamber music performance via an interpretative style that is fresh, relevant, and vibrant.  At the core of its leadership team are two of D. C.'s most talented concert artists.  Alejandro Hernandez--Valdez serves as artistic director, alongside co-founder, his wife Grace Cho, who serves as executive director.
