Why Releasing Early is Great for Startups: All Hail Metrics: The Power of Pivot
Oct. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- A new guest post has been released on to the StormGate Web Development Blog by Marius Fermi, Director of Enterprise Communications at Tactical Sales Training UK Ltd entitled 'Why Releasing Early is Great for Startups'. This new blog post focuses on the benefits and drawbacks of releasing a minimum viable product before it's complete, why it might be an ideal practice to offer "beta" releases for fresh startups but for big business it might be a costly error.

Marius covers several aspects of what has become a popular methodology of the business world in the past few years, the lean startup. He splits his article into four main sections:

● Lean Startup & MVPs
● Thriving Biz (business)
● All Hail Metrics
● Above All Else: Don’t Worry, Be Happy

To quote Marius, "A Lean startup or MVP is ‘Street’ smart because it learns and changes with the demands and audience. Where metrics from a book are static and rarely change you can begin to move with the trends or find a new path that allows you to expand and grow, on a much cheaper scale compared to long term R&D."

This blog post sums up the risk Vs. opportunity scale for established Vs. new businesses use of alpha and beta releases; it highlights a clear separation from Marius's perspective with lessons to be learnt at either end of the spectrum.

To round up the blog post StormGates' CTO offers some extension on Marius' thoughts, citing that they have seen a huge rise in the number of clients requesting web development prototype's over finished products, often opting to release an early version in order to garner real user feedback and potentially pivot their web development before critical mass is attained or a huge budget is lost.

An excerpt from Woodys' after word: "Reading Marius’ piece on early release of an MVP reminds me how far metrics have come and how utterly important they are to on-line business today. One of the main reasons now is a great time to get an idea out there is that you can have these user metrics right off the bat. Within a week you could have a solid exposure of your idea against a real life audience."
