Oct. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Months of excitement and curiosity paved way to happiness on Saturday as Maharajas’ Express – the super luxury train by IRCTC embarked on its maiden expedition for the season on September 29, 2012. After a grand welcome to all the  guests and among all the media coverage, the train rolled out from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi. The train’s first journey – Indian Splendour is  taking the guests on a royal ride across some of the most popular tourist destinations in India, namely – Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Balasinor and Mumbai. It would to conclude its weeklong tour in Mumbai on October 6th 2012.

The Maharajas Express has already bagged Conde Nast readers choice travel award 2011 as 1st Runner up and the CNBC travel award 2010 under category of “Best Luxury train”. A venture of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, the train was launched in 2010 and since then, its popularity is reaching new horizons.

Equipped with state of the art amenities, Maharajas Express offers 5 journeys: 3 pan-Indian itineraries spanning over 7 nights and 8 days and 2 golden triangle tours, spanning over just 3 nights and 4 days. Next on its list is another pan-Indian journey – Heritage of India with the 600-year-old Ajanta Caves in Maharashtra as the star attraction. This weeklong trip would begin from Mumbai and conclude in New Delhi.
