MAT December 2012@ December MAT to be conducted on 2nd & 8th onwards

Sept. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- AIMA has announced the last Management Aptitude Test (MAT) exam of the year. MAT is conducted in both the paper-pencil- and computer-based formats. The paper-pencil-based test will be held on December 2 while the one based on computer will take place from December 8 onwards. The paper pencil test will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm. Candidates have to choose the time slots for the computer based test.

The application process is open now. The following information will help you if you are keen on taking the test.

Eligibility

Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible to apply. Those in their final year of graduation can also apply.

Important dates

The last date to buy the application form is November 14 and the last date for submission of forms is November 17. Admit cads can be downloaded seven days prior to the exam, i.e. from November 24 onwards.

Application procedure

Candidates have the option to apply either in online or offline. The application fee is Rs 1,200. For the offline method, you have to buy the MAT bulletin and the CD from the listed branches of Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, listed centers of AIMA and AIMA, New Delhi. You can apply online by visiting the AIMA website.

The list of participating B-schools will be declared on the first week of October. The list of test centers is given in the MAT bulletin itself.  

Pattern of the test

MAT is a two-and-a-half-hour test. There are five sections -- language comprehension, mathematical skills, data analysis & sufficiency, intelligence & critical reasoning and Indian & global environment. The total number of questions is 200 and the total marks are 800. The difficulty level ranges from easy to moderate. Scores are calculated on the basis of the first four sections only. B-schools do not consider marks scored in the Indian and global environment (or the general knowledge) section. Generally, the cut offs is 500 marks and more i.e. 50 percentile and above.

However, an analysis of the MAT conducted in September 2012 shows that the paper was moderate to tough in nature.
