Sept. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Colony Square Midtown will host a weeklong series of eco-inspired events during World Green Building Week (WGBW), September 17th- 21st. Each event has been designed to spotlight the green initiatives of both Tishman Speyer, the property management company that runs the multi-use complex, and the building’s retail and office tenants. At the same time, the WGBW events will educate the community about small, sustainable practices that make a big difference

The week’s events will include a community farmer’s market, an after-work cocktail party and an “Eco-lounge” experience. Programs will be sponsored by Colony Square, building tenants, and external vendors, all of whom are working to help decrease the carbon footprint.

Tishman Speyer has long held the belief that sustainable buildings not only benefit the tenants but benefit communities as a whole. For three decades, the company has been committed to developing, redeveloping and operating their buildings with a higher level of efficiency, using technology and innovation to reduce energy use and waste, and manage resources better to create real estate of enduring value around the world.

“Over the last five years, Colony Square has been working to improve performance and overall building efficiency”,” explains Colony Square Senior Property Manager, Rebecca Holland. “ This week is an opportunity for us to educate people on the amazing “green efforts” that are taking place at Colony Square and around the world. Our goal is to get people engaged, focused, and excited about making our community one of the greenest in the nation.”

Colony Square joins Tishman Speyer properties from across their global portfolio and more than 60,000 sustainable commercial developers globally who are participating in World Green Building Week at their respective properties.

Brief event descriptions of Colony Square’s events are as follows:

This event will be held in the main Peachtree St. courtyard and will feature a range of vendors offering fresh products from local dairies, farms and gardens as well as other locally made green food items. Open to the entire Midtown community, the market will feature live music and possibly a cookbook signing by a local chef.

WEDNESDAY, Sept 19 thru FRIDAY, Sept 21 – “Green Office Trunk Show/Eco-Lounge”
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
This experience will showcase an “eco-lounge,” a mock office lobby/living space that incorporates furnishings and lighting from green vendors who specifically focus on office furnishings, office supplies and office services that are designed to be eco-friendly.

Promotional materials from Colony Square’s green vendors will be available as reading material and a large screen TV/Video Monitor will play a video that provides an overview of the current sustainability practices of Colony Square, featuring call outs for each of our green vendors.

An Eco-lounge host will be on hand during open hours to promote and explain the space to guests. Experts are also expected to stop by during lunch hours to meet and greet guest in an informal setting.
