Follow on Google News | The Golden & Roaring Twenties EraIn the UK the 1920s were known as the Golden Twenties due to the economic boom following World War 1 and in the United States of America they got the title of the ‘Roaring Twenties’.
Unfortunately the economic boom came to an end in 1929 with Black Tuesday with a massive stock market crash. Many people were ruined overnight and this led to the Great Depression of the 1930s, which become the biggest financial crisis of the 20th century. Back in the UK, after a long battle, women were at last allowed to vote in 1918, this contributed the following decade becoming more liberated for women, with many going out to work for the first time and earning money. Flappers were such young woman who wore shorter skirts, had the latest fashionable bob hairstyle and danced to the modern jazz music. Although many saw them as brash for driving automobiles, their excessive drinking and generally flouting social rules. It is truly an era to be remembered and is immortalised in many ways, but a fun and different way to experience a little of the 1920s is through a murder mystery event (http://www.murder- Picture the scene, it’s 1928 and the height of the Flapper era.
