The Box Appeal Returns to Cairo for 2nd Year Successful charity campaign will run 1st September

Aug. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- The Box Appeal a charity campaign that aims to help those most in need by filling boxes with essential everyday items, is returning to Cairo for its 2nd year. This year’s campaign will take place between the 1st of September and the 31st of October.

The Box Appeal – is created and run by Radisson Blu and Park Inn Hotels in the Middle East, this will be the fifth year the campaign has run, the second time that the campaign has run in Cairo.

The Box Appeal asks people to give back to those who need it most by filling a small box with a list of everyday items. To take part all participants have to do is pick up a box from Radisson Blu Hotel Heliopolis, Cairo, fill with the list of predetermined items and return to the hotel.

The Box Appeal has been moved to September and October this year due to feedback from participants who took part in 2011. An overwhelming consensus felt more boxes could be collected if the appeal was held post summer, once the cities are back at capacity and children are back in school.  This gives everyone more time to collect boxes, the more boxes collected, the more people the campaign can help.

In addition to Radisson Blu Hotel, Heliopolis Cairo, 10 other hotels across the region will take part in 2012, including all nine Radisson Blu and Park Inn Hotels in the UAE, and The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, in Bahrain.

“The Box Appeal has steadily gathered momentum over the last four years, we received so much support from the general public, local companies and of course our sponsors in 2011 we had the most successful appeal to date. We hope to repeat this success in 2012 and our confident that once again people’s generosity will help us collect more boxes than ever before,” said Mark Willis, Area Vice President, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.

The Box Appeal was initially founded by Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai, Media City, the first campaign was such a success in the following years Radisson Blu and Park Inn Hotels in Abu Dhabi Yas Island also joined and in 2011 the appeal spread across the Middle East, with Radisson Blu and Park Inn hotels in Oman, Egypt and Bahrain joining the cause. Since its launch in 2008, over 30,000 boxes have been donated, the equivalent of 3 million AED.

The Box Appeal coincides with Carlson Rezidor’s 9th annual Responsible Business Action Month taking place throughout September, a whole month dedicated to Responsible Business, the environment and the community.
