Klemchuk Kubasta Attorneys Lead 8th Annual TexasBar CLE Advanced Patent Litigation Course

Aug. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Klemchuk Kubasta LLP (www.kk-llp.com), a leading intellectual property (IP) boutique law firm based in Dallas, is taking a leadership role in the training of patent attorneys.  Under the direction of Shannon Bates (http://www.kk-llp.com/attydetail.asp?atty=19), an executive partner at KK LLP, patent attorneys from around the state participated in the 8th Annual TexasBarCLE Advanced Patent Litigation Course, which was held at the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas on Aug. 2-3.   Bates, a recognized IP and patent expert with more than 12 years of experience, planned and managed the Continuing Legal Education program, which gave attendees access to legal experts that covered 20 trend-setting patent litigation topics during the two-day event.  

Also, participating in the program was Casey L. Griffith (http://www.kk-llp.com/attydetail.asp?atty=14), a KK LLP senior partner specializing in litigation of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.   As part of the two-day CLE program, Griffith presented, “Patent Damages Update” which focused on heightened court scrutiny of reasonable royalty theories in damages calculations.  He highlighted landmark decisions in the Lucent v. Gateway, Uniloc v. Microsoft and Oracle v. Google cases, among others.

“Technology is changing so rapidly that the basic tenets of business law continue evolving in response.  Intellectual property law is especially sensitive to court cases involving hi-tech and Internet-related IP disputes,” said Bates. “The courts have stretched laws that have pre-dated many of today’s technological advancements that are now commonplace in many IP cases, so it is imperative to stay abreast of developing trends.  Our goal for this course was to provide an in-depth overview of the most relevant court decisions, while instilling a solid knowledge base to help maximize the outcome in IP-related cases.”
