Follow on Google News | Roman Street Trio Performed for Bicentennial Event in ChickasawRoman Street Trio opened the Mobile Bicentennial concert series to a robust audience of more than 100 attendees of all ages on Sunday evening Aug. 19 at the Chickasaw amphitheater in Brooks Park.
While the trio’s energetic ‘new flamenco’ style of jazz reveled throughout the park, people playing Frisbee golf stopping to listen. A stray cat who was part of the audience even found a home with Glenn and Teresa Goolsby. Concert goers stopped to sign the scroll for the 2012 time capsule to be buried later this year. This event was the first of two music concerts sponsored by the Bicentennial Commission of Mobile County, Inc. as part of the county’s 200th birthday celebration. The second music concert is Sunday, November 11, at the dedication of the Mobile County Bicentennial Amphitheater currently under construction at Medal of Honor Park on Hillcrest Road. The patriotic music will be performed by the Mobile Symphony. Scheduled fall bicentennial events include a “Bobby Socks and Blue Suede Shoes Tribute to Elvis” sock hop, October 19; Bicentennial Leadership Awards Gala, November 15; and Bicentennial Birthday Bash, December 15.
