Follow on Google News | Community Activists, Supporters To Be Honored At MEDA GalaThe MEDA Annual Gala will take place Friday, November 2, 2012 from 6:30PM – 10:00PM at the Boston Marriott Hotel in Newton, MA. The event raises awareness to help prevent the continuing spread of eating disorders.
By: MEDA Caroline C. Balz will be honored for her notable activism in the eating disorders field and in particular her work done under MEDA’s Connect to Confidence (CTC) branch, a program that provides educational tools to promote body confidence. Judith Feldman, MD will be recognized for her support of MEDA’s Connect to Growth (CTG) branch, a program that strives to educate and train Professionals around the intricacies of eating disorder treatment. And finally, the Bikofsky Family will receive an award for their support and dedication to MEDA’s mission through the years and their commitment to MEDA’s Connect to Recovery (CTR) branch, a program that offers a variety of treatment options necessary for recovery. Eating disorders claim eleven million people as victims each year. With the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, eating disorders continue to play a major role in our culture. MEDA is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating based on a model of full recovery. As the largest non-profit provider of services for individuals with eating disorders in the Northeast, MEDA is a support network and resource for clients, loved ones, clinicians, educators and the general public. The Gala is a festive evening complete with a cocktail hour, live and silent auction, followed by dinner and the presentation of awards.
