SAN DIEGO, CA – Students at five San Diego schools will be returning to cleaner school campuses this fall thanks to the work of Rock Church volunteers.  As an ongoing effort to help improve and beautify San Diego, more than 300 Rock Church volunteers and community members will help clean-up five San Diego schools on Saturday, August 18, from 7AM to 1PM .

This Rock Your City™ project is the Rock Church’s third quarterly community beautification event this year and is part of a San Diego county-wide school clean-up organized by Urban Youth Collaborative, a not-for-profit organization that links churches to schools.

The Rock adopted Mann Middle School, Lincoln High School, Gompers Preparatory Academy, Millennial Tech Middle School and Knob Hill Elementary School (North County location) for the August 18 event. Around 60 volunteers at each location will be landscaping, cleaning, power washing, sweeping, mulching, and painting the schools from 7AM to 1PM. A total of about 300 volunteers are expected to come out and clean-up the five San Diego schools in an effort to spread pervasive hope, reaching every street, every person.

This project is part of the Rock Church’s efforts to improve areas in San Diego. Earlier this year, volunteers worked together to beautify the Jackie Robinson YMCA and Colina del Sol Park and Recreation Center in San Diego. The Rock will host one other community service event this year on December 8th, “Toys for Joy,” which has helped over 35,000 children and their families since it began. Toys for Joy seeks to impact the lives of area children through providing a toy, food and clothing for their family combined in an event that ministers in both a practical and spiritual way.
