The Travel Word Has Relaunched After 40 Score Articles and Two Years (Ago Today)

Aug. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Several months ago, we knew that precisely two years – and more than 800 published articles – since the birth of The Travel Word (http://www.thetravelword.com/) would be a perfect time for a facelift. While we are very fond of the old face that carried us through our infancy, teething and early adolescence, some of what we put in place was always only going to be temporary. That that ‘temporary’ stuck for 24 months speaks to just how busy we’ve been.

One guiding reason for the facelift has been the weakness of our internal navigation. Not enough of our readers are finding their way to our rich archive of 40 score articles showcasing responsible, sustainable and local travel resources and activities in more than 100 countries. So we’ve put quite a bit of thought into providing easier and more obvious access to that great content.

The most important thing we’ve done is given greater prominence to our three-colour navigation scheme, which allows for at-a-glance review of material by destination, by human interest articles and by responsible/sustainable travel tales.

Blue is the colour assigned to our articles with a particular focus on a destination. By clicking on the blue ‘LOCATION’ bar below the top photo banner on any page, you can use our nifty maps to find articles, information and resources about a continent, a world region, a country or a specific destination within a country.

Pink is the colour assigned to our articles that put pride of focus on human interests. For a full list of human-interest topics and features, click on the pink ‘HUMAN INTEREST’ bar below the top photo banner on any page.

Green is the colour that identifies articles with a strong responsible/sustainable travel slant. Different categories and features are listed on a page reached by clicking on the green ‘RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL’ bar below the top photo banner on any page.

We’ve also raised the profile of our Photo of the Week gallery, a sumptuous feast for the eyes and the intellect, a pairing of dazzling images with text written about the image, often by the photographer. See AND understand what you’re seeing.

We hope you find these and many other small changes to be useful and intuitive. (Agree or disagree, do leave a comment!) Please take time to explore the responsible, sustainable and local travel world as we and our scores of local experts and writers are revealing it.
