Automotive Future Embraced for 2012 Corvettes at Carlisle Event

July 25, 2012 - PRLog -- The iconic Corvette brand has been around since 1953 and more recently, Corvettes at Carlisle launched at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds in the late summer of 1982.  This year's event, August 24-26, will take the combined histories of the event and car, mix it with the future of the hobby and highlight generations of enthusiasts with a special youth-based opportunity.

In conjunction with Kevin MacKay of Corvette Repair, Inc. and a wide array of GM Engineers, Corvettes at Carlisle is pleased to announce a special event catering to the next generation of Corvette enthusiasts.  Along the lines of the "Young Guns" class featured during select shows on the Carlisle schedule, Corvettes at Carlisle invites youth, ages 13-20, to register for unprecedented access to the event, its guests and the ever-popular downtown Corvette Parade and Street Party.

As part of this program, a limited group of 25 young people will get the chance, for free, to spend Saturday, August 25 at America's Automotive Hometown.  By coming to Carlisle, they'll experience a package that includes admission to the event, lunch, a private meet and greet with Lance Miller of Carlisle Events, MacKay and more than 40 GM Engineers that are responsible for creating and building today’s Corvette.  Further, this select group of 25 will be part of the downtown parade and enjoy additional onsite perks.

"The Corvette hobby is strong with throngs of enthusiasts; however, when you step back and take a look around it is also an aging hobby," said Miller.  "I often find myself in conversations about the future of Corvette and there's never a true answer on how to get younger generations involved, though I know exactly why I love Corvettes and all performance cars for that matter.  I love them because I've been around them my entire life.  I'll never forget the rumble of one of my father's race cars and when he threw me the keys, it was all over.  I was hooked," continued Miller.  "Today's youth are the future of the hobby and I've tasked myself along with the rest of our team to come up with unique ways to generate interest in the Corvette (and car) hobby.  Because of that, we've worked various programs and activities into our events this year and will continue to do the best we can moving forward.  I challenge anyone with an interest in the hobby to do the same and I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts.  Please don't hesitate to contact me at LanceM@CarlisleEvents.com with suggestions or if you know someone who wants to be part of Corvette weekend."
