| Local Founder of Lovin’ Spoonfuls Named Oxfam’s Sisters on the Planet AmbassadorWomen in business, philanthropy and civic organizations who recognize the disproportionate impact of poverty and hunger on the poor
"I'm incredibly honored to join Oxfam's Sisters on The Planet. Lovin' Spoonfuls and Oxfam share a fundamental ethos that food is a right, not a privilege. Food is an incredibly powerful tool in the pursuit of social justice, and it's through better access, distribution and education that we can start to create real change. I believe in Lovin' Spoonfuls, in Oxfam and in the women who I'm so inspired by. We say here in Boston that hunger relief is a team sport, and I'm profoundly grateful to join this global community and carry our message even further,” said Ashley Stanley, Founder and Executive Director of Lovin’ Spoonfuls. Since 2010, Lovin’ Spoonfuls has successfully rescued over 100,000 lbs of perishable, unserved food from farms, supermarkets, restaurants and other retail outlets and delivered it to local crisis centers and social assistance organizations so they can feed wholesome, healthy food to those who need it the most. As a Sisters on the Planet member, Stanley will be join the ranks of other high-profile women dedicated to promoting social justice through food access, including: Annie Lennox; alumnus Ambassador Hilda Solis, Secretary of U.S. Dept. of Labor; Jody Williams, Nobel Laureate and Founder of International Campaign to Ban Landmines; and Nancy Kaufman, CEO National Council of Jewish Women, to name a few. Both Stanley and Lovin’ Spoonfuls will be given an international platform and resources to not only move one step closer to eradicating hunger in Massachusetts, but across the globe. End
