July 11, 2012 - PRLog -- “Inside the Boundary Line” is a work of fiction. It dwells at length and in depth on all aspects of match-fixing in international cricket through creation of an alternate reality. This original and unique work shocks the world, especially the cricketing world. It quotes “...No, not bowled maidens but rather played maidens by the batsmen. It was akin and not so akin to seeing a ghost....” Anyone who is bitten by the fever of cricket would understand the feeling of vacuum that a maiden over in a match brings along. It is the most painful part of the game where there is no progress and everything comes to a standstill. But Dhiren, the protagonist, goes beyond this vacuum to unravel the mysteries of match fixing through his betting experiences and knowledge.
Cricket being the religion of the nation, indigenous readers should immediately connect with this book. Readers abroad, especially those interested in cricket, would also find this book extremely interesting and revealing. The book will immensely interest the normal cricket fans and the best brains in cricket alike. With its yorkers and doosras, the book depicts how a common person discovers that his world is ruled by machinations and corruption of some and folly of the rest. The game of his life is not at all natural but controlled by the mafia; the players, the captains, the umpires, the officials, the team owners, the commentators, the cricket-experts and even media – all playing their parts as part of an out and out corrupt conglomerate. Not only the outcome of matches but total plays are pre scripted where the players are playing by the rules of a puppeteer and boy they never have a choice though they try their best to show to the world that they were playing their natural game and were truly competing. The protagonist of this book is the lone sincere player who is stuck in the muck of the betting world, corrupted plays and money exchanging hands. The experiences of the protagonist help him decipher the connection between sports betting and match fixing in cricket and he uses his common sense to understand all interactions within this corrupt enterprise.
