Effective Networking on a Budget

July 5, 2012 - PRLog -- How effective have your business networking activities been so far this year?

Building enduring personal relationships is the most effective way of doing business in today’s environment.   However,  the greatest challenge is finding the best way of conducting your networking activities that allows you to build a strong network of referral partners.

In Sydney, there are numerous networking options available to potential networkers.   Some of the more structured networking groups are very expensive and charge more than twice the fees of their overseas counterparts.  Apart from high annual charges, there are also training fees, weekly restaurant costs, parking charges and Sydney’s infamous transport delays.   These, plus some of the compulsory face to face meetings, all contribute to making it difficult to get a good return on your investment in time and dollars.

With the start of the new financial year, right now is a good time to review your Return on Investment (ROI) and start building your own team of reliable referral partners - the right mix of business people who are going to be effective members of your team.

It's called DIY Business Networking and it works.   Most of us already have a small informal network of referral partners so all you need to do now is to formalise these arrangements and start growing your team.

To start, Google "Business Networking" so that you can view the many networking activities run by Chambers of Commerce, Business Enterprise Centres, LinkedIn Groups, Rotary Means Business,  Meetup groups and other organisations as you plan what events to attend where you will be able to recruit members for your DIY Networking Team.   Many of these events are free or there is only a minimal catering charge.

Use the latest technology and social media outlets such as FaceBook or LinkedIn to keep in touch with your team as they help you to get the best return on your investment.

Being proactive and accountable in your DIY business networking is a sure-fire way to get results, so make a new financial year resolution to take charge of your destiny by DIY business networking, saving time and money in the process.
