| IEEE Computer Society Adopts Skills Framework for the Information AgeThe IEEE Computer Society will use the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) to define professional skill levels for its future information technology professional education products.
The IEEE Computer Society will use the SFIA as a key part of its work in defining IT curricula, an IT Competency Model, and an IT Body of Knowledge (ITBoK). "For the advancement of the IT profession worldwide, an objective statement of capability is essential," said Dante David, product development specialist with the IEEE Computer Society's Certification & Professional Education department. "As an international organization, we are working to assure cross-compatibility in IT qualifications across nations." The IEEE Computer Society is working with the Canada Association for IT Professionals, the Australian Computer Society, and the Federation for Enterprise Architecture Professional Organizations (FEAPO) in developing the ITBoK. The effort is overseen by the IEEE Computer Society Professional Activities Board's Information Technology Group. The IT Competency Model will serve as the basis for the ITBoK.
