By: www.xcar360.com From performance and tuning oriented monitoring, to slick and free, to quick, dirty, and free, for a reasonable price, all the software we know about is right here! Got a site to add? http://www.Xcar360.com Datamaster I have been a reseller of The Turbo Shop Datamaster series of software for over 10 years. If you haven't checked this software package out, you can download it for FREE and preview it before buying it. It is AKM Cable compatible, and is perhaps the most comprehensive vehicle specific scan tool available today. They cover 1990-1995 F, Y, and B body cars, as well as C/K trucks and Syclones / Typhoons. You can download it by going to their website (linked above), clicking on "Software", and then following their pages to the download page. Its benefit is a performance oriented interface and logging system that does everything in one user interface. No need to exit the program, open files in spreadsheet format, etc. Everything is right there. Check it out, you won't be disappointed! EFILive (formerly Carbytes) Here is a software package that is getting a lot of attention and gaining a lot of followers. Paul Blackmore has written this software with lots of graphics in mind, with multi vehicle compatibility the goal. There is a free version (allows up to one minute of data logging - most dragstrip runs are less than that, we hope, right?), and the full version is available for a nominal charge. You might need to do some datastream legwork on this one. :) Check out these pages: http://www.xcar360.com/ EFILive by Starr Performance Carbytes Download Page Freescan by Andy Whittaker Here's one of my favorites. I love Andy's GUI, and I don't think he sleeps at night - he works on this software instead! It's *the* package for Lotus owners, and it works with several other vehicles as well. Andy is willing to put other vehicles in to Freescan as well - all he needs is datastream information. I've given him what I have, and he's put it in there (1989 'vette, 1992/3 LT1, 1994/5 LT1). I've used Freescan on my '94 Z28, and it worked great! As the name implies, it's Free. Andy's Freescan Page PCMcomm I think this started off as one of those "can it be done?" software packages, and has blown up in to part of LT1_Edit! Specifically targeted towards the 1994/1995 F/B/Y body LT1 cars, it works very well and provides you with a very easy to read, no frills user interface. There is a data logging upgrade version available for a very good price. Dave is a very sharp and very nice guy, I've been running PCMcomm for well over a year now and when I want to check something fast, this is where I turn! Download PCMcomm from www.Xcar360.com Carsten Meyer's 1990-1992 TPI Software Here's one I've honestly never worked with, but I've talked to a few folks who have, and they like it. You can read up on it at Carsten's Software Page Craig Moates' 1227165 Software (87-89 TPI) Another one I haven't worked with, but I will once I get my TPI car up and running again. You can download this software from the DIY-EFI.org FTP site - by clicking right here Peter Gargano's Pages Peter's done a lot of work documenting both the 8192 baud datastream and the 160 baud PWM datastream, and has posted some software on his site. More focused on Aussie implementations, it's nonetheless a great resource of information. See it by clicking here Good old GCAR In the grand scheme of things, GCAR is probably a dinosaur, and needs a good asteroid to put it out of its misery, but it's something to play with. Remember the "quick, dirty, and free" phrase from above? GCAR is it. I didn't write the software, but when I started playing with the datastream 3 years ago, GCAR was all I could find. See it here on my ALDL Information Page www.Xcar360.com EV1 Palm Interface I have no idea if my cable works with this or not, but it definitely deserves an honorable mention award! I do know of other people working on other automotive platforms, but so far the only one I've seen is this one. See Peter's PalmPilot Interface http://www.Xcar360.com Alex's OBDII Scan Tool Another honorable mention, if you've got an OBDII car in the driveway, and need a scan tool at a reasonable price, Alex has a good one. It's not compatible with my cable, Alex builds his own. Works great on the family '99 Pontiac Montana minivan! It needs more info to be effective in performance tuning, but as a generic OBDII scan tool, I highly recommend it - I do own one (for the minivan), and would buy it again!
