NetCom Learning awards Jodi Young its March Sarder Scholarship

June 27, 2012 - PRLog -- NetCom Learning recently announced the winner of its March Sarder Scholarship. Jodi Young won the $2,500 scholarship and plans to pursue a career as a Certified Security Specialist.

Named after benefactor, author, entrepreneur and CEO of Learning Russell Sarder (http://www.russellsarder.com/), the Sarder Scholarship is awarded to a different student each month. NetCom Learning offers the scholarship as a way to promote lifelong learning. The award can be used toward any of NetCom Learning's IT training or business skills courses.

Young, whose background includes a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering Technology and is pursuing a master's degree in Information Systems, said her goal is to become a Certified Security Specialist. She said that career path appealed to her because she'd like to be able to contribute by helping to alleviate cybercrime, which is an increasing threat to Internet users. She said the scholarship will help her pursue her education in order to gain the competence and certification needed.

"With this scholarship I will be able to afford and complete the training courses I need to earn my A+ and Network+ Certifications so that I will be able to move in the direction of my career goal to become a Certified Security Specialist. Not only will this scholarship grant me the opportunity to improve my IT skills, it will also put me on a trajectory of self- and professional improvement that will enable me to enter the workforce, well equipped with the knowledge and technical savvy that is needed to flourish in today's economy," she said.

Sarder acknowledged Young is pursuing a career in a field that is increasing in demand. "Every day there is an increase in cyber threats, and more companies than ever are recognizing the need for someone to play the role in protecting the security of their organization's networks. It's wonderful that NetCom Learning can play a role in helping this student continue her learning to pursue this goal," Sarder said.
