Paul Wainwright and Thomas Kinzel releases “Midnight Café” to an astounded audience!

June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- In 2004 Paul Wainwright and bassist Steve Duben began working weekly shows at one of their favorite haunts and quickly developed a fan base that continuously grew and grew. When Thomas Kinzel joined a year later, their sound became as solid as their goal.  They were receiving requests for different events and venues and then came the invitations to play concerts and festivals in their region.  With this magical blend of talents came a magical sound of jazz and funk that surpassed anything in the music industry to date.   Paul Wainwright and Thomas Kinzel took this incredibly unique sound and gave it an extra edge bringing in collaborative talents to inject yet another layer of extra voltage delivering a precision performance with every piece they wrote.

In May, 2011 “Midnight Café” was released to a waiting audience.  Singles from this CD such as “Love’s Refrain”, “Midnight Café’’  and “Swing City” represents the versatility and creative openness that is this duo .

Paul wrote “Love’s Refrain” in dedication to his wife of many years.  This piece is smooth jazz with a sultry sax taking on that lead vocal.   It has a great rhythm to it to dance or to lay back and just enjoy it.  Listening to this song is so very therapeutic and relaxing.

“Midnight Café” was written by Thomas capturing the late night after hours scene.  Certain words come to mind when you hear this piece such as smooth, cool, slow and sultry.  You surely become part of that club jazz scene with this one, which harnesses the sounds of spectacular soprano sax along with a rhythm that takes you on a ride of your life.

“Swing City”, which this duo calls “the double espresso track”, is a quick tempo, hot jazz beat that quickly puts you in a big city at 9am in the morning.  This song moves you in many ways.

Much of their music compositions have a unique approach to them such as creating three covers for a single “Ain’t Nobody” which was dedication to Chaka Khan.  Working in primarily an instrumental fashion, they have reached out to artists such as Scott McGill and Murray McComb to bring in the sounds of hip-hop. Getting that special sound sometimes means bringing in that specific musician to add that extra layer and flavor to the piece.  This gives Paul Wainwright and Thomas Kinzel an advantage over others who dabble in this category.  Yes, their music is for self-interpretation.  The music of Paul Wainwright and Thomas Kinzel is fuel for the mind/body connection.  When you grab your coffee in the morning, grab a little Wainwright and Kinzel for the ride.   They are a mood breaker and a mood maker and definitely a must buy in my book.

•   Thomas was part of the top 10 of 15,000 contestants nationwide, to write the new CBC Hockey Night in Canada theme song.
•   Thomas has opened for Matt Dusk, shared the stage and recorded with talents such as Rick May (bassist Michael Jackson, Andy Summers), John Ferraro (drummer Boz Scaggs, Rod Steward), Jamie Hovorka (trumpet player Paul Anka, Brian Setzer), Wayne Kozak (saxophonist Powder Blues, Tom Jones), Tom Ackerman (saxophonist Sammy Davis Jr., Julio Iglesias), Morry Stearns (keyboardist Celine Dion, Lisa Brokop), Ken Lavigne (Canadian Tenor)
•   He played with legendary hit man/mega producer David Foster, and superstar Nelly Furtado
