| Titanic Bridge refreshed for JubileeA historic Bridge in Belfast has just emerged from major refurbishment work carried out by a London infrastructure maintenance company.
By: www.goodreputations.co.uk The Queen Elizabeth II bridge in Belfast, built and opened by the Queen in 1967, has just emerged from a major refurbishment and is looking better than new. Belfast City Council and the Northern Ireland Roads Agency started work on refurbishing the Bridge last year, hiring the London-based RHINOCEROS infrastructure maintenance company to do the dirty work. As popular with pigeons as it was with motorists, the Bridge had accumulated up to 7” of pigeon guano, and with 45 years of exposure to salt air the original rubber-based coatings were due for remedial work. RHINOCEROS sent a hand-picked team to strip off corroded coatings and repaint with modern epoxy paints. Removing pigeon droppings may not be everybody’s favourite memory of celebrating the Jubilee, but RHINOCEROS Manager Duncan Maclean says “Our teams thrive on tough and dirty jobs – we’ve been doing graffiti removal around London for 30 years. Fortunately we also do a lot of preventive work, like the anti-graffiti coatings we’ve just finished at the Olympic Park.
