Snell & Wilmer Receives First Champion of Hope Award

June 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that S.A.F.E. House recognized the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer with the first Champion of Hope Award for the firm’s contributions and support. The firm has collected and donated hundreds of gently used suits and several hundred pounds of clothing over the last six years.

The award was presented at a luncheon featuring a S.A.F.E. House success story. The firm plans to continue its annual Suit Soirée scheduled for April 2013.

Attorneys Pat Curtis and Jennifer Hargis headed up this year’s collection.

“Six years ago, the women attorneys of Snell & Wilmer’s Las Vegas office started this event to continue the firm’s tradition of community service. The House plays a vital role in helping women who suffer domestic abuse build and rebuild their lives. We are especially appreciative of the support and services the House provides to the children of these women, including their teenaged boys – S.A.F.E. House is the only organization of its kind in the Valley that will accept teenaged boys in its facility which we think is a tremendous benefit for some women who desperately want to keep their relationships with all of their children intact,” partner Pat Curtis said.

“I’m privileged to be part of a tradition of giving back to the community at Snell & Wilmer. The clothes and donations we collect during the Suit Soiree makes such a big difference in the lives of the women who live at S.A.F.E. House,” associate Jennifer Hargis added. “They are generally starting over with nothing and need professional clothes for job interviews and employment. It’s an honor to be able to help the families at S.A.F.E. House.”

S.A.F.E. House was established in 1994 by a group of community leaders concerned about the needs of battered women and their children. Today, through safe shelter, support, advocacy, counseling and community education, the organization provides a comprehensive approach to working with families to Stop Abuse in the Family Environment.
