Shared Services and Outsourcing Exchange: Hello and welcome to this Shared Services and Outsourcing Exchange podcast. I’m your host Helen Winsor and today I’m delighted to be joined by one of our key speakers Anirvan Sen. Anirvan is Global Operational Excellence and Transformation Director for shared services at GE. Anirvan, welcome to the show. How are you today?

A Sen: I’m doing very well, Helen. Thanks for inviting me.

Shared Services and Outsourcing Exchange: We’re delighted that you could join us. Now, I’ve got several questions for you today. And, so, first of all, please can you describe your role for me in terms of your key responsibilities, geographical remit, size of the team and reporting structure just to give us a bit of background on what you do?

A Sen: So, essentially in GE our main shared services wing is known as Global Business Services. We operate in 134 countries and we have outsourced… or we actually use about 44% BPO vendors. Genpact supports us in Global Business Services in 40 of those countries, exclusively for GBS, and then Genpact also supports the other GE business through different forms. Genpact used to be a part of us until started off a good few years back. My role specifically is we are a model of hybrid shared services with in country presence focused on control and compliance, aggregating work like TNL or AP in more captives or outsourcing them. And my role is I drive process improvement. Right now I’m working on globalising and standardising the service delivery model that we have between Genpact, GBS to start with and then we’re also talking about standardising processes like AP, like records to report, like accounts considerations [?] as well as standardising the internal communication advantages that we have between us and the different GE businesses.
