Davis will be the keynote speaker for the event, while Attorneys Andrey Filipowicz and Maureen Gorman of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving will present and facilitate legal workshops on fathers’ rights. For over 26 years, Attorney Filipowicz has helped to reunite many fathers with their children in this country and worldwide. Mr. Filipowicz has been selected to serve as a member of The United States Central Authority’s Attorney Network, a group of skilled lawyers who are referred Hague Convention cases by the U. S. Department of State, Office of Children’s Issues. Attorney Filipowicz was also honored and designated as a “Super Lawyer” representing the top practicing attorneys in Illinois. Maureen Gorman has over 20 years of complex litigation experience. Ms. Gorman litigated numerous sophisticated Section 1983 civil rights cases, sexual harassment, employment discrimination and class action security fraud cases. Ms. Gorman has won 3 Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) appeals in a row, exonerating fathers falsely accused of abuse. Congressman Davis represents the 7th Congressional District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives and is currently a member of several Congressional Caucuses including the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus. He has distinguished himself as an passionate advocate for his constituents and as a highly effective legislator able to move major bills to passage.
