Follow on Google News | Did you know Stack Racks are used to store Aircraft Tires?Airlines, aerospace and defense companies are using aircraft tire racks to store their tires.
By: Tier-Rack Corporation Care should be taken that tires do not come in contact with oil, gasoline, jet fuel, hydraulic fluids or similar hydrocarbons. The biggest danger for any aircraft tire is that it does not stand or lay on the floor where these contaminants are often found. For this reason whenever possible aircraft tires should be stored vertically on tire racks inside of a dark warehouse. The surface of the tire rack against which the weight of the tire rests should be flat and wide to minimize distortion. Another way to store aircraft tires is stacking the tires horizontal on a stack rack. However, care must be used to prevent distortion of the tires on the bottom of the stack inside of the rack. Tires stored in racks, but leaning on the chine, can also cause distortion. The following is the maximum recommended stacking height of tires inside of an aircraft tire rack: Tire Diameter Stacking Height Up to 40 inches Over 40 inches to 49 inches Over 49 inches In short aircraft tire racks are a necessity for companies to ensure that tires don't get damaged and will be safe to use in the future.
