June 11, 2012 - PRLog -- After a 16 year career as a traditionally published author and journalist, Alexandra Pratt has decided to launch her latest book 'Shipwrecked!' through her own e-publishing company, The Moriarty Press.

"I'm passionate about books and reading." says Pratt. "I love to write books that can open a door into that world for people who may have struggled in the past. By launching my latest book digitally, I'm hoping I can reach a whole new audience who may be tech-savvy, but book averse."

The Moriarty Press is a new e-publisher dedicated to books for struggling and reluctant readers, and Shipwrecked! is the first in a series of non-fiction, true-life adventure stories with a reading age of 8, and an interest level of up to 14+. Professionally authored and edited, they are designed to turn reluctant readers into bookworms!

Alexandra Pratt is a British freelance journalist and author, whose previously published works include 'The Day The Island Exploded' (published by Barrington Stoke) also for reluctant readers, and her acclaimed travel book 'Lost Lands, Forgotten Stories, A Woman's Journey to the Heart of Labrador' (published by HarperCollins), which is based on her own award-winning expedition in eastern Canada.

'Shipwrecked! Murder and Mutiny in Remotest Patagonia.'
It's 1740, and a British warship is wrecked on a remote island in Patagonia. But that is only the first of Midshipman Isaac Morris's problems. When mutiny among the crew leads to murder, Isaac must survive starvation, slavery and imprisonment if he wants to see his home again....

Advance praise for Shipwrecked!:

"Mutiny, murder, slavery and adventure on the high seas – and it's all true. What more could a young reader want?  The story of the disastrous voyage of HMS Wager, and its rounding of Cape Horn in 1740, has been told before, but not in a way quite so accessible for kids. Through the eyes of the young midshipman Isaac Morris, Alexandra Pratt takes us straight to the heart of a terrifying yet thrilling tale."
