June 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Villa Park, IL hardware store put together a video to help customers with wiring a three way switch.
"One of our popular questions from customers is how to wire a three way switch," says manager Jason Smejkal. "I ask if we could put together a video to help customers with basic wiring. So the owner did a series of how to wiring videos that we can show to customers."
"The best tip I can give a customer is to look at a 3 way switch before removing it and mark the wire going to the dark colored screw. This is the common screw terminal and the same wire must be connected to the dark colored screw on the new 3 way switch." Jason adds, "If you have removed one or both of the 3 way switches and don't know what wire goes to which screw, that's where the video is a great guide."
Most local hardware stores talk about being helpful and having a knowledgeable staff. The Villa Park Hardware is embracing technology and putting their hardware knowledge into something that can be shared with customers during and after hours.
The Villa Park Hardware started a website to collect their training and share it online. They also started a YouTube channel to organize their videos for employee training and customer questions.
"The owner is very passionate about training and customer service, but it's hard to find employees that have the knowledge" says, Jason. "I have been asking if we could make videos for training in the store and for customers. The boss has now turned it into a channel on YouTube."
