Bear Proof Trash and Recycling Receptacles

When a bear gets into your trash you’ve got a BIG mess and a BIG problem.

June 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The Bear Proof Receptacle from Pilot Rock has been successfully tested by the Living With Wildlife Foundation and the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center, in Montana, to keep bears out of your trashcans. A few of its un-bear-able features include: flush fitting top hatch and front access door so the bear has no place to get a grip, front door release is located inside, all heavy gauge welded steel construction (no rivets), includes a heavy duty 36 gallon capacity liner, anchor bolts for secure attachment to concrete surface, and a textured powder coat paint finish. The LWWF and GWDC testing protocol includes baiting the tested receptacle with something that smells attractive to the bear. The receptacle must withstand a total of 60 minutes of  abuse by the bear, during several testing periods over several days. The Pilot Rock Model BPR Bear Proof Receptacles have survived these tests. The receptacles are available as 1-, 2- or 3-module units and can be used to collect trash and recyclables. A selection of decals will instruct your campers what to deposit in each receptacle. The receptacles are offered in Brown, Green or Black powder coat finishes.
