Great Lakes Chennai Placement 2012; Avg package@ Rs 10.8 lakh

Consulting and Marketing emerged favourite domains at Great Lakes Chennai even as Top companies including IBM, KPMG, PWC, Axis Bank, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, L&T recruited all students of 2010-12 batch who participated in the campus placement.

June 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Consulting and Marketing emerged favourite domains at Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai even as Top companies including Mahindra Satyam, IBM, KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, Axis Bank, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL,  L&T recruited all students of 2010-12 batch who participated in the campus placement.  

While the highest salary offered at the campus was Rs 24.4 lakh by a US-based Management consulting firm, the average annual salary stood at Rs 10.80 lakh per annum, an increase of 15 per cent over last year.

Other top companies who recruited the graduating students from the campus include Cognizant Business Consulting, TCS Global Consulting Practices (GCP), Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, RBS, Dunia Finance, Euro monitor, Sundaram Clayton group, SPIC group, Leitner Shriram Manufacturing, KPIT Cummins, Apollo Hospitals, HSBC Technologies.

According to the institute, the highest number of offers was made in domains like Consulting, Technology and Sales & Marketing. Other domains where the leading companies recruited the students include Analytics, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Media, Travel, Auto, Manufacturing, Education and Energy.

A total of 156 leading companies participated in the placements, an increase of 25 per cent over last year, of which 33 were new participants, the institute said.

Prof. S.Sriram, Executive Director, Great Lakes Institute of Management, said, “We are very happy with the response we have received from the corporate world despite tough economic conditions, with a larger and more diverse base of recruiters than ever before. This is testament to the confidence of our corporate partners in the quality of our graduates and we look forward to serving their talent needs in the years to come.”

According to the placement cell of the institute, as many as  28 students of the of a total of 297 students in the batch opted out of the placement process – either embarking on their entrepreneurial journey, returning to their parent companies as sabbaticals or taking up offers off-campus.

The diverse roles offered during the placement season of 2012 included those of ERP Consultant, Equity Research Analyst, Business Planning Manager, Corporate Finance Manager, Mergers & Acquisition, Grid Infrastructure Consultant and Social Media Marketing Manager.
Consulting:

The major recruiters in this category were ZS Associates, Deloitte, PWC, Cognizant Business Consulting, TCS Global Consulting Practices (GCP), Mahindra Satyam, IBM, KPMG, Technova Global, and Universal Consulting.

Finance:

Some of the major recruiters for the finance students of Great Lakes were VistaSoft, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, RBS, Dunia Finance, Orchid Pharma. Roles varied across Wealth Management, Financial analytics, Mergers & Acquisition, Equity Research and Institutional Investments.

Sales & Marketing:

Major recruiters who offered Sales & Marketing jobs included Perfint Healthcare, Manipal Education, Heymath, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra bank, Hirco, Euro monitor, Suprabha, Gameshastra, Defiance, CBazaar, Marg, Svapas Innovation, Daimler, Dunia Finance and Saudi Development and Innovation Group.

Operations:

Companies such as Tecpro, TVS Motor and Sundaram Clayton group, SPIC group, Leitner Shriram Manufacturing, KPIT Cummins, Apollo Hospitals, Galaxy Surfactants, were among the recruiters for Operations and Product Management roles.

Analytics:

Companies that offered roles in analytics included Mu Sigma, Fractal Analytics, IBM, Latent View, and Dunia Finance.

Technology:

IT majors who recruited from the campus included Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Mahindra Satyam, L&T Infotech, Virtusa, HSBC Technologies, Ramco Systems, Photon Infotech visited campus this year.

Great Lakes Institute of Management is a leading B-school in India founded in 2004 by Prof. Bala V. Balachandran, J.L.
