Follow on Google News | Time To Sign Up for Simi YMCA's Summer Camp ProgramsThe Simi Valley Family YMCA is taking signups for its summer camp program, which run from June 18 through August 17. Parents can sign up their children for specific weeks or for the entire summer.
By: Simi Valley Family YMCA "Summer camp and the YMCA have gone hand in hand since the first Y summer camp in 1885," says Stacey Huff, Simi Y's senior program director. "Our camps are designed to provide a positive experience in a safe environment. Campers not only have fun, but build their self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills. During camp, they get the opportunity to be creative and learn new skills. Our trained camp staff serves as positive role models for campers." Simi YMCA camps are divided by age group ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade. Camps for older kids go on daily field trips to amusement parks and to the beach. Other camps offer non-traveling activities only or go on weekly field trips. "Parents have their choice of summer camps that best fit their needs," says Huff. "Kids can attend full or part time with extended care included." In addition, a Basketball & Swim Camp will be held July 16 to July 20 and a Soccer & Swim Camp will be held August 13 to August 16. Children, ages 6 through 14, who take part in these week-long sport sessions learn the basic fundamentals and skills of basketball or soccer in a fun, supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome. To find out more or to sign up for summer camp programs at the Simi Family YMCA, call 805-583-5338 or go to http://www.sevymca.org/ End
