May's 4th Friday in Tunkhannock

Exciting art, music, entertainment and food are part of this month's celebration of 4th Friday in Tunkhannock.

May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- May’s 4th Friday in Tunkhannock will offer art, music, food, and chain saws!  Or at least the carved work of a noted local chain saw expert.  The event will also kick off the Memorial Day week-end and participants are planning a memorable event.  “This month’s array of activities features something for everyone”, relates Mark Monsey, Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association President.  There is an exciting variety of entertainment including a guitar soloist, a musical group from the Tunkhannock Area High School as well as members of the Whipple Performing Arts Studio appearing in the Greenwood’s Furniture front windows.
   Patrick Robinson and KITSON and Company, at Penn Corners will have entertainment by Lindsay Nulton solo guitarist.  They are also featuring exclusively by Kitson and Co. Handcrafted leather Journals from Florence, Deluxe Art Puzzles from Vienna and Italy and also the famous Paitik playing cards that cover different art, history and collectible themes, all made in Austria.  According to Mr. Robinson, the company is continuing to compile collecting stories from area residents.  Story collector Bill Goodman will be on hand to interview collectors sharing their unique stories and finds.  Collectors are encouraged to bring a treasure and the story behind it!
   The Wyoming County Press Examiner joins the 4th Friday celebrations with some activities to tie in with Memorial Day, which originated at the time of the civil war.  Members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will be on hand 6-8 p.m. to discuss Wyoming County’s involvement in the Civil War.  Expected to be on display will be a South Carolina flag captured in 1865 in Charleston, S.C., by the 52nd Regt. Pennsylvania Volunteers of which Company B was raised entirely in Wyoming County.
   Jennifer L. Gifts and Antiques will feature Angelique Provost-Peters Paintings in Oil.  Guitar player John Wascovich, a former Berkley student and performer for over 20 years, will be playing outside.  Also featuring our Jewelry line from Keith Hamilton Downs “Jewelry from behind bars, to make a difference” He has been incarcerated for 11 years after a robbery charge fueled by drugs. 100% of his profits are donated to either,” Above the Influence” or “Big Brothers, Big Sisters”, Buyers choice on where the profit will go. Enjoy a FREE Hot dogs fresh off the grill!
At the Nimble Hill Tasting Room Leland Smith will provide Musical entertainment from 6 – 8 pm.  The art work of Bre Reynolds will be on display and Bill Slater will host a display of his hand-painted glassware in the event room.  The Dietrich Theater will be holding a gallery reception on May's Fourth Friday for the entrants of the Tunkhannock Tree Association's annual photo contest.  All are invited to meet the photographers, see their work and learn more about the Tunkhannock Tree Association.
Additional art work will be featured at Popcorn Etc. where artists with the Endless Mountain  Council of the Arts will display some of their work.   Ambience Wallcovering will feature artwork from “Concrete Thinking”, decorative pieces that can be used for the garden, yard or indoors for decoration.
Sassy Albert Soap will feature the photography of Shawn Montross.  Walburn Photography will highlight the work art students from the Tunkhannock Area School District. Friends Art and Unique Gifts will display the chain-saw carvings of Kevin Treat.
   The Mary-Go-Round and Beads and Baubles are hosting the group ‘Man*Fuel’ comprised of music students from the Tunkhannock Area High School who will perform in front of the stores.  
Tioga Bistro becomes Bistro Italiano where diners can select from three pastas, choose a sauce and add chicken, shrimp or meatballs.  BYOB.  Family night will be from 4:30 – 6 pm where children under 12 can order a spaghetti and meatball dinner with salad for $3.00 Then the regular menu will resume and continue until  9 pm.
Performers from the Whipple Performing Arts Studio will present “A Tribute to Disney” and the Wyoming County Players will perform an “American Salute”.
