Follow on Google News | Tunkhannock offers Scenic Spring Train Rides in MayBy: Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association “We are thrilled that the railroad has approached us again for a train ride event,” relates Trisha Zaleppa, TBPA president. “The Christmas rides sold out quickly and we hope that a Scenic Spring ride will be as successful. The train ride weekend is the week before Mother’s Day so TBPA is organizing a special shopping weekend to encourage riders to do Mother’s Day shopping in Tunkhannock. When shoppers board the train, they will receive a flier of special discounts and promotions offered by TBPA members throughout the area. To participate in the sales event, train riders must present their train ticket for verification.” Some businesses that have already signed up to participate in the promotion include Bridge Street Marketplace, Ebb’s Landscaping and Candy Jar, Paradise Gifts, Beads and Baubles, and Monzies. Train tickets for May 2 and 3rd are $13 for individuals 13 and older; $9 for children ages 3 to 12 and children age 2 and under are free. For further ticket information call 570-665-1815. Advance ticket sales are strongly encouraged and available at Greenwood’s Furniture, 61 Tioga Street, Tunkhannock. Tickets are being sold on a first come, first serve basis; there will be no holds, mail orders, or refunds. Tickets can be purchased with cash or checks payable to TPBA. Trips will run rain or shine. Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Train riders will be encouraged to arrive in town 45 minutes early and to not plan on parking at Riverside Park; parking there will be limited to Handicapped parking and for members of High Energy Fitness. When riders purchase their tickets, they will receive a map of available parking areas throughout town. The map will also designate the two pick-up locations for continuous shuttles from town to Riverside Park. Shuttles will leave from Tioga Street near the First National Bank Gazebo and the other shuttle will leave from the Warren Street side of Twigs restaurant. “We are looking forward to warmer weather and the train ride will be a great way to welcome spring and do a little Tunkhannock shopping”, added Ms. Zaleppa.
