A delicious English tasting menu for one night only at Colette’s at The Grove, Hertfordshire – Jubilee Dinner, Monday 4th June

May 18, 2012 - PRLog -- (May 2012):   As a weekend visitor to The Grove in Hertfordshire, when it was the seat of the Earls of Clarendon, Queen Victoria would definitely have been amused by Chef Russell Bateman’s one-off tasting menu for her great-great-granddaughter’s Diamond Jubilee.

For one night only, Colette’s restaurant, holder of 3 AA Rosettes and highly praised in the 2012 Good Food Guide, is inviting guests to enjoy a delicious dinner to celebrate sixty years of Her Majesty’s reign  - and all things gloriously British.   Colette’s is normally closed on Mondays, but will open especially on the evening of Monday 4th June for dinner.

Chef Bateman’s skill is to combine classic and more adventurous flavour combinations, giving his dishes a very personal signature and this special menu demonstrates his talent in abundance.  It features his interpretations of classic British dishes, for example, for the fish course, Russell has re-interpreted Coronation Chicken, and created Coronation Turbot, using wild net-caught turbot, with curry seasoning, coriander cress, sliced wet almonds, Granny Smith apple batons, spring onion curls and apple mayonnaise.

The menu uses local ingredients and fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s kitchen garden in the estate’s original Walled Garden.  Appropriately, the wine list will also feature vintages sourced solely from the Commonwealth

Colette’s is set in the elegant former entrance hall of the Grade II Listed Mansion at the heart of The Grove.  It opens onto a large terrace with views over the estate to the lake and the Grand Union Canal – a suitably serene and elegantly relaxed setting in which to raise a glass to Her Majesty and to savour a meal to remember.
