May 8, 2012 - PRLog -- West Yorkshire based e-learning company Webanywhere have been awarded a place on the new Department for Education Information Management and Learning Services Framework. As one of only 15 companies approved to provide learning platforms to schools, the achievement represents a huge success for a company of its size. As part of the framework, Webanywhere will be working to provide cost-effective solution for schools at a time when budgets across the country are stretched.

In September 2010, Becta, then the Government's leading agency for ICT in education, reported that schools weren’t getting value for money when purchasing ICT services. A lack of competition and confusion over decision making in local authorities had led to a stagnant marketplace that provided little negotiating room.

To counter the problem, the government set up the IMLS framework in consultation with schools and local authorities. Using the framework, schools can now choose from a group of trusted, pre-approved suppliers to ensure every ICT deal is simple, legally compliant and the best value for money

To gain acceptance on the framework, Webanywhere demonstrated an innovative commitment to online learning. Setting themselves apart from the competition, they’re the only supplier on the list to offer schools the open-source platform Moodle - designed to promote collaboration and free thinking across establishments. As an official Moodle partner, Webanywhere work alongside the Moodle Trust and a community of over 1 million teachers to help online learners reach their full potential.

Martin Dougiamas, lead developer and founder of the Moodle project said:  "It's tremendous to see Webanywhere, one of our largest certified Moodle Partners, given UK government recognition of their trustworthiness and ability.”

As part of the framework agreement, Webanywhere also pledged to continue providing the same high quality service that has seen them working with 3000 schools to date. Robust procedures are in place to ensure all present and future clients receive technical knowledge and effective customer service to justify the government’s decision.

“I’m immensely proud of the achievement” said Sean Gilligan, Managing Director. “Our place on the new government framework puts us in a strong position to continue our mission - to help schools enhance teaching and learning through online technology”.

This approval by the Department of Education will support Webanywhere in continuing to deliver innovative learning platform solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of students, teachers and school communities.
