Amber Fort and Palaces

Amber fort is always on top priority of the tourists list while they plan to travel Jaipur. Initially, the palaces at Amber were built by Raja Bharmal in 1558 and his successor Raja Man Singh. Later on some structure added by their descendents. Some of the structures get ruined with the time, some of the structures changed. But most of the structures are preserved and now maintaining by the state govt. The Amber fort as it exists today has been shaped by mainly Raja (ruler) Man Singh, Jai Singh I, and Jai Singh II.

Amber palace complex mainly comprises Jaleb Chowk, Singh Pol, Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khaas, Ganesh Pol, Yash Mandir, Sukh Mandir, Suhag Mandir, Shila Devi temple, Baradari, Bhool Bhulaiya, and Zanana Dyodi (women's apartments). City Palace

City Palace is situated in the heart of Jaipur City. City palace is still a place of residence of Royal Family. City Palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II between 1729 and 1732. City Palace is an excellent example of Indian architecture (Vastu). Hansom gallery (Bagghi Khana), Sabha Niwas (Hall of public audience), Sarvato Bhadra Chowk (Private audience hall), Pritam Niwas Chowk, Mubarak Mahal, Sileh Khana (Weapons gallery), World's largest silver jars weighing 345 kg, beautiful architecture, wonderful gates and wall paintings dazzle the tourists.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 A.D. by Maharaja Pratap Singh (1778-1803 A.D.). It is an icon of Jaipur tourism. Sawai Pratap Singh was a devotee of Lord Krishna and he dedicated this palace to his deity.  It is shaped like a "Mukut" or crown, which adorns the Lords's head.  This five storied pyramid shaped structure is made up of small casements, each with tine windows and arched roofs with hanging cornices, exquisitely modeled and carved.  This unusual structure is more like a screen than a palace, its top three stories are just a single room thick and at the base are two courtyards.  Basically, it is 87 feet high thin shield which is less than a foot in thickness but have over 900 niches and a mass of semi-octagonal bays, carved sandstone grills, finials and domes which give this palace its unique facade.

Govind Dev ji Temple

Govind dev ji temple is one of the oldest temples in Jaipur, was built in 1735. The idol situated in Shri Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur is of Lord Krishna and was called "Bajrakrit". According to a legend, the idol was created by the great grand son of Lord Krishna - Bajranabh. Bajranabh asked his grand mother to describe as how Lord Shri Krishna looked like. Bajranabh then made one idol of Lord Shri Krishna on the basis of description given by his grand mother. When Bajranabh shown this image to his grand mother, she said that only feet of the idol are similar as of Lord Shri Krishna. Bajranabh - the great grand son of Lord Shri Krishna then created another image and again shown it to his grand mother. His grand mother told him that the chest of this new idol is similar as of Lord Shri Krishna. Bajranabh then created one more idol, and this time the grand mother of Bajranabh said him that the idol is very similar as of Lord Shri Krishna.

Albert Hall Museum

It is one of the finest museums of 19th century.  The wide range of 19,000 objects were collected for the museum including pottery, furniture and wood work, metal ware, ivory carvings, stone carvings, textiles and garments, carpets, clay models, arms & armor, lacquer work, miniature paintings, musical instruments, jewelry, sculptures and Egyptian mummy made it world-class museum.
