April 25, 2012 - PRLog -- The map features each pumpout station and mobile pumpout boat and contact information on the map. Boaters can choose satellite or map views and zoom in to see exact location details of each facilty.

What does it mean that the map is QR code enabled? A Quick Response code was created to promote the mobile map. Quick Response codes (QR codes) are 2-dimensional bar codes. When you scan or read a QR code with an iPhone, Android or other camera-enabled Smartphone, you can automatically link to digital content on the Web.

When you see a QR Code like this on a Going Coastal map, download a QR reader (such as scanlife) to your mobile device and use it use to scan the QR Code for a map of free pumpout stations on Long Island. The apps that are required to scan and read the QR codes are free.

Access to the map is not limited to smart phone users, any recreational boater can access the site through the URL: http://www.goingcoastal.org/lipomobile.html.  Boaters can type the URL and access the data just like any other Internet website. There is a direct link on the goingcoastal.org website to the QR site.
