Kids Create their Inner Animal at The Grove this Summer
Kids’ Sculpture Workshops with Stephen Charlton, Animal Sculptor at The Grove
And it will be animals in all shapes and sizes that are the subject of his kids’ sculpture workshops at The Grove in Hertfordshire this summer. Running alongside Expressions of Movement, The Grove’s sculpture exhibition, Stephen will be offering little guests the chance to discover and explore this dynamic art form… as well as getting happily messy creating their own animal sculptures.
Educational and informative, the classes - open to all children aged 3–9 staying at The Grove - have been designed so children learn about the art of sculpture through their own creative talents. The fun-filled afternoons will run on three Saturdays this summer: 2 June; 7 July and 11 August 2012.
3 – 9 years age group:
Introduction - what it is like to be a sculptor
The life of a sculpture – and the different stages it is made in
Learn about famous sculptures from around the world
Create a sculpture based on each child’s favourite animal in plasticine, clay, wire or plaster
A fun show round of the Expressions of Movement sculpture exhibition
Following the workshops, all children will be able to take home their creations, together with a photo of themselves with their sculpture at The Grove, a certificate and a Stephen Charlton drawing.
So everyone will be smiling – inside and outside!
The kids’ sculpture workshops are part of The Grove’s summer of sculpture. The Expressions of Movement exhibition is taking place in The Grove’s Formal Gardens from 1 May – 30 September. There are 57 pieces which have been inspired by the London Olympics and the theme of movement.
